Washington, DC – Twenty-First Century Democrats congratulates Raj Goyle and his campaign for their victory in Kansas’ 87th State House district. Goyle was one of 34 candidates endorsed by Twenty-First Century Democrats, the nation’s 13th largest political action committee, during the 2006 election cycle.

“We are proud to have endorsed Raj Goyle this election season,” said Kelly C. Young, president of Twenty-First Century Democrats. “Raj has been active in his community and dedicated to public service all his life. We are confident that Raj will successfully use his leadership abilities to unite his constituents under his progressive values and ideas.”

Goyle’s progressive campaign against incumbent Republican Bonnie Huy in the typically “red” state of Kansas was an uphill battle from the start. However, with Goyle’s landmark victory, Twenty-First Century Democrats believes that America is one step closer to achieving leadership that is more representative of the nation as a whole. As State Representative, Raj plans to enact legislation that would help small businesses, reduce the cost of healthcare, improve education, and make communities more secure.

“Raj’s victory tonight in Wichita is one piece in the sweeping change that spread throughout America tonight,” said Young. “America was ready to shake things up and bring new leadership to bear, and Raj will be a shining star in Kansas. We know he will make his home district and the entire state proud.”

The endorsement of such a small number of candidates nationwide signals a new direction for Twenty-First Century Democrats. “We are bringing the Democratic Party back to the people, and we’re making it a party of movement again,” said Young. “We need strong risk-takers to once again stand up for what they believe in, share their vision with America, and motivate millions of citizens to become active in their communities.
