21st Century Democrats Endorses Matt Campbell for Congress (IA-5)
Washington, DC - Today, 21st Century Democrats endorsed Matt Campbell of Iowa's 5th Congressional district. As a fifth generation Iowan, he is dedicated to his community and will fight on behalf of its working families.
Campbell graduated in 1993 from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, with a B.A. double major in political science and economics. During his time in college, he was a volunteer, intern and temporary caseworker for Senator Tom Harkin and helped campaign for Senator Harkin in Iowa and New Hampshire when he ran for U.S. President. After college, Campbell received his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law and in 2001 graduated from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C, with a Master of Law in taxation. Campbell has over 10 years of experience providing international tax services, representing numerous Fortune 500 companies on a wide range of tax issues, primarily in mergers and acquisitions. He recently served as the South region lead for international tax for BKD, LLP, the nation's tenth largest accounting and auditing firm, based in Houston, Texas.
As a Congressman, he will work to revive the economy and stimulate the job market by advocating for the establishment of high-tech manufacturing plants in Western Iowa and by championing renewable energy production through the increased use of biomass and wind. Campbell understands the need to foster conversation among business owners and plans to work with western Iowa's local economic development organizations to identify best practices, support innovation and job creation. He also knows we must fight for the continued reform of the healthcare system, particularly regarding assistance given to veterans and military families.
